Core Competence
Space Norway is Norway’s largest space enterprise and a significant satellite operator globally. The company ensures stable access to broadcasting services for millions of people, and satellite-based broadband communication in Europe, Middle East, Africa, and the North Atlantic. At the same time, Space Norway develops and operates space-based infrastructure for national needs.
Space Norway owns and operates a fleet of satellites in geostationary and high elliptical orbits. In addition, Space Norway also owns and operates the Nittedal ground station outside of Oslo, a ground station in Tromsø, and two subsea fibre cables between the mainland and Svalbard.
In addition to existing infrastructure, Space Norway continuously develops new space infrastructure in different orbits and for various purposes.
Space Norway consists of around 180 employees. The headquarter is in Oslo. The company is wholly owned by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries. Space Norway owns 50 percent of the shares in Kongsberg Satellite Services.
